Turkey’s competition authority fined Google 2.61 billion Lira (about $75 million) for misusing its dominant position in the ad server services market. Google was accused of favouring its own services over competitors, hindering fair competition. 

On March 19, 2025, the European Commission charged Google under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) for favouring its services in search results and imposing restrictions on the Google Play Store. If Google fails to comply with the regulations, these actions could lead to substantial fines. Historically, the EU has fined Google for antitrust violations. In June 2017, Google was fined €2.42 billion for abusing its dominance as a search engine by giving illegal advantages to its comparison shopping service. ​
